I have a nVidia GeForce FX5900 with XFree 4.3.0 with latest drivers, and whenever i do a glxgears, or play a 3D game, my screen shakes horizontali, not very hard, but noticeable, specially on the edges of the screen. Surface Dock 2 : display shaking when using multiple screens
Regarding the failure, among the sharing screen options, it seems to be present only with the "second screen only" setting. The cabling is scaled to the UHD 60Hz performance. I am using a HDMI to USB-C adaptor to connect the monitor into the dock 2. I do not have another adaptor to test. The one I am using is brand new and 4k 60hz scaled.

The monitor has to reset with the new settings. It will turn off and then turn on again with the new settings. When changing resolution, the graphics card will briefly stop sending a signal. The monitor detects this loss of signal, and goes into standby mode. When the graphics card starts sending the new resolution, the monitor comes back on.

This is in X-windows, right? Your X-window config may be pushing your hardware past its limits. In your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file (or same without '-4' if you don't have that) the 'Monitor' Section should have a couple of lines like: HorizSync 30 - 71 # DDC-probed VertRefresh 50 - 160 # DDC-probed You could check that against your monitor specification to see if it is reasonable.

I've used the usual trick to install the Intel Graphics driver and it improved the situation a little (image is fitting the screen a tad better and colours looks better too). However, it is still not OK. I've connected my PC to a normal PC LCD screen and it works perfectly fine with the image fitting the screen perfectly.
