I just recently got into Gravely tractors as well. I was mowing an acre with a Snapper LT12 with a 33 inch deck before I picked up a two wheel Gravely L8. The 30" deck that came with the L8 was not much of an improvement on the 33" snapper. I was lucky enough to pick up a 40" deck for the Gravely locally and it has made all difference in the world.

I just bought a 5665 the other day. Not nearly as shiny as yours! It will be a nice complement to my 5465. I got the tractor (with dual wheels and steering brakes) and 46" (approx) deck for $650. Not too bad. The duals look undersized - like off an old L-model. I called Richard's Gravely and bought a set of the bigger ag tires to replace them.

Dual wheels definitely. More traction, less sinking in the mud. The tractor will end up wider than the 30 inch cut but no big deal really. The gear reduction wheels are for speed reduction mainly. I have a set and have never been inpressed with their performance. Not one of Gravely's better ideas.
