PKR Patella Femoral Joint Replacement
Replacement options due to my age (43) so referred me to another specialist. On our 1st meeting he saw that my knee caps aren't tracking correctly and diagnosed Trochlea Dysplasia. My patella has significant thinning and he recommended a Patella Femoral Joint Replacement. I had the surgery in early September and am now 2 weeks into recovery.

TKR Martial Arts and Knee Replacement
Because a total knee replacement is brutal, with the knee being cut, sawed, hammered and having a huge foreign body inserted into it. All that causes tissue damage. The knee swells and the swelling acts like a splint that prevents the bending. Get rid of the swelling and the knee will bend again.

The Lounge Doctor provides a safe bend. 2) There's a legitimate concern about pressure being applied to the back of the knee as a risk factor for blood clots. A properly sized Lounge Doctor, and properly arranged pillows, support both the thigh and the calf, with zero pressure or even contact needed between pillow and the popliteal area.

Bilateral TKR Getting in & out of a kayak
I am at the 2½ to 3 week mark following bilateral total knee replacement. I "thought" I was doing OK - walking with a cane, doing exercises on my own per OS recommendations, able to cut back on pain meds to about ¼ the total dosage of the first week post-op. I can extend to 0 degrees and flex to probably 95 degrees.

TKR
Throughout the past 2 years my knee has felt at least 75% better than before the replacement, but not as good as I expected. Mr. Doctor just tells me to take Naproxen. In the past 6 months I have notice my knee buckeling 2 or 3 times a day. Never enough to cause me to fall, but definitely enough to cause me to reach out to grab something.

THR Six weeks since surgery and still can't do a straight leg lift.
Just my humble opinion. Forget that darn straight leg lift! Are you able to do modified lifts....place a rolled pillow under your knee and then straightening the leg from that position. You use the same muscles without straining. With my first hip I listened to the PTs and forced a straight leg lift.

How soon after TKR surgery can you go swimming? | Joint …
My PT was thrilled to hear I had access to a pool and gave me a handful of exercises to do. I found the gentle pool work helped loosen the knee and gave me more comfortable flexibility. I think I started my pool work about 8 weeks out, but I would have been cleared to begin sooner. Probably around five weeks. Be careful not to overdo.

TKR 7 Weeks Post TKR and Feeling Lost<
Your ROM is quite good for this time in recovery---and stamina is the last aspect of this TKR recovery to actually come back. Hang in there. I had a pesky little limp for about five months post-op, but it went away. I was at 80%-85% at around six months, and I was at 90%-95% at eight months. Pain is a real issue.

THR weight training and body building after hip replacement …
I just started feeling comfortable using weights at the gym. I tried them earlier, but they made my hips burn for several days afterward. Instead, I walked, rode my bike, did easy yoga, and the basic PT exercises. I was also able to do some time on the Stairmaster and Elliptical. It's so important not to go back to the weights too soon.
